SUMMARY
Responsible for supporting post-secondary partnership programming at W̱SÁNEĆ College (formerly SAEC) and for facilitating the ongoing connection between on-site post-secondary partner’s faculty and program leads, W̱SÁNEĆ College students, and W̱SÁNEĆ College administration. Establishes positive lines of communication, provides student wraparound support, and supports program recruitment, retention, and growth.
SCOPE
Works under the direction of the W̱SÁNEĆ College Director and in accordance with the W̱SÁNEĆ School Board’s policies and procedures and W̱SÁNEĆ College’s Code of Behaviour to provide support and resources to partnership program students. As a member of the W̱SÁNEĆ College Learning Support Team, the position supports the safety, health, academic, emotional, and social needs of partnership students inside and outside of the classroom so that students can take full advantage of the instructional program and available resources.
HOURS OF WORK
Up to seven (7) hrs per day based on a schedule to be determined in accordance with the operational needs of the W̱SÁNEĆ School Board.
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES
Level One:
- Grade 12 plus one-year related post-secondary experience; ideally, candidates will have had a recent post-secondary experience so that the present-day ‘Indigenous post-secondary student experience’ has been lived and is understood.
Level Two:
- Grade 12 and a related certificate or diploma in education, teaching assistance, or community support and two years related experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Ideally candidates will have had recent post-secondary experience so that the present-day ‘Indigenous post-secondary student experience’ has been lived and understood.
Level Three:
- Grade 12, a related bachelor’s degree in health and human services, education, teaching assistance, or community support, and two years related experience. Ideally, candidates will have had a recent post-secondary experience so that they have lived and understood the present-day ‘Indigenous post-secondary student experience.
Levels One, Two and Three:
- Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License and access to a personal vehicle for daily use
- Criminal Record Check
